The Milwaukee Brewers have made a roster move, recalling right-handed pitcher Easton McGee from Triple-A Nashville and optioning right-handed reliever Grant Anderson to the same affiliate, according to recent reports. The transaction was made official on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

McGee's recall provides the Brewers with additional bullpen depth as they prepare for their game against the Atlanta Braves. While he has experience as a starter, McGee is expected to be used as a low-leverage reliever in the coming days, if needed. This will be McGee's second stint with the Brewers this season. In his lone appearance last month, McGee pitched a scoreless inning. In 2023, while with the Seattle Mariners, McGee pitched in three games, one of which he started. He had an ERA of 9.53 over 5.2 innings. So far in 2025, McGee has pitched 8.2 innings for the Brewers, posting a 2.08 ERA with 8 strikeouts.

Anderson, on the other hand, returns to Triple-A Nashville after pitching 1.1 innings on Monday against Atlanta, where he allowed three runs. Despite the recent outing, Anderson has had a decent season as a middle reliever for Milwaukee, holding a 3.86 ERA across 32 2/3 innings in 28 appearances. Before his recent three-game stretch, where he allowed a run in each outing, his ERA was down to 2.76. Anderson's performance this season marks a significant improvement from his 2024 season with the Texas Rangers, where he had an 8.10 ERA in 23 appearances.

The Brewers' decision to option Anderson may be short-lived, as he is likely to return to the major league club later in the season. The team may have wanted to lighten his workload by sending him to Triple-A Nashville.

Easton McGee, 27, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 4th round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft. He made his MLB debut on October 2, 2022. Grant Anderson, also 27, was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 21st round of the 2018 MLB draft. He made his debut May 30, 2023.

It is also worth noting that top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski is expected to join the Brewers on Thursday, which could potentially impact McGee's time with the team. Depending on how the Brewers decide to accommodate Misiorowski, McGee's stint with the club could be as short as two days. One option would be for the Brewers to move McGee to make room for Misiorowski, which would mean using a six-man rotation.
