England's recent 3-1 defeat to Senegal has sparked considerable debate, not just about the team's performance, but also regarding the conduct of star midfielder Jude Bellingham. England's head coach, Thomas Tuchel, has weighed in on the discussion, revealing that Bellingham's on-field behavior sometimes "repulses" his mother.

Following the loss to Senegal, Bellingham visibly displayed his frustration, kicking a water cooler after a late goal was disallowed due to a VAR intervention. While Tuchel acknowledges and even appreciates Bellingham's passion and "fire," he admitted that these displays can be off-putting to some, including his own mother, Gabriele Tuchel.

Tuchel made these remarks in an interview with talkSPORT, responding to a suggestion that England might be better off without Bellingham. Tuchel strongly refuted this idea, arguing that the focus should be on harnessing Bellingham's talent and understanding the edge he brings to the team. He emphasized the importance of accepting that Bellingham's intensity can manifest in ways that elicit mixed reactions.

"I think it has to be the other way around – how we can have the best version of him and the best acceptance, that people understand what he is bringing to us and that he is bringing a certain edge," Tuchel stated. He further elaborated on the contrasting perceptions of Bellingham's character, noting, "But I see that it can create mixed emotions. I see this with my parents, with my mum, that she sometimes cannot see the nice and well-educated and well-behaved guy that I see."

Tuchel highlighted the duality in Bellingham's persona, recognizing his ability to win people over with his charm and smile. However, he also acknowledged that the midfielder's "rage," "hunger," and "fire" can sometimes manifest in a manner that some find objectionable.

Bellingham has previously faced scrutiny for his conduct. He has been sent off and suspended in La Liga and was also subject to a UEFA probe following a gesture made at the Euros last year.

The comments from Tuchel, particularly the reference to his mother's disapproval, have ignited discussion among fans and pundits alike. Some believe that Bellingham's passion is a vital component of his game, while others argue that he needs to temper his emotions to avoid negative repercussions.

Harry Kane has called on England to learn from their chastening defeat to Senegal, while Jack Grealish has been left out of Manchester City's squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.
