Mexico enters the 2025 Gold Cup as slight favorites, aiming to extend their record as the tournament's most successful team. The 18th edition of the Confederation's premier tournament will be held across 14 stadiums in 11 metropolitan areas in the United States and Canada, starting June 14 and culminating with the final on July 6 in Houston, Texas.

Sixteen teams will compete, 15 of them from the CONCACAF region and one guest team, Saudi Arabia. The teams have been drawn into four groups:

  • Group A: Mexico, Costa Rica, Suriname, Dominican Republic
  • Group B: Canada, Honduras, El Salvador, Curacao
  • Group C: Panama, Jamaica, Guatemala, Guadeloupe
  • Group D: United States, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Saudi Arabia

Mexico is in Group A and is heavily favored to win the group, boasting a deep squad and a history of regional dominance. The team will kick off the action on June 14 against the Dominican Republic at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Costa Rica is expected to compete for second place in Group A. Suriname and the Dominican Republic are seen as underdogs.

The United States, as always, is also among the favorites. However, some analysts suggest that the US team is currently in disarray, potentially impacting their performance. Canada is considered a strong contender, with some analysts picking them as the team to win it all. Panama and Jamaica are also seen as teams with the potential to make a deep run.

The tournament begins with a group stage, with each team playing every other team in its group once in a round-robin format from June 14 to June 24. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, which includes the Quarterfinals on June 28 and 29, Semifinals on July 2, and the Final on July 6.

Mexico's squad for the 2025 Gold Cup blends experienced players with emerging talents. The team is led by coach Javier Aguirre and features key players such as Raul Jimenez, Santiago Gimenez, and Alexis Vega in attack, Edson Alvarez in midfield, and Cesar Montes and Johan Vasquez in defense.

The Gold Cup has reached exceptional levels of popularity, drawing capacity crowds and a global TV audience of millions. Mexico has won a record nine titles, followed by the United States with seven and Canada with one.

Luis Fonsi will be the main artist for the Official Song of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, titled “Tocando el Cielo”, in partnership with Concacaf and Universal Music Latino. The tournament will also feature a new Molten Concacaf Gold Vantaggio 5000 match ball.

The matches will be broadcast on Fox Sports (English), TelevisaUnivision (Spanish), OneSoccer (Canada), and ESPN (Caribbean, Central, and South America).
