Mohamed Salah is headlining the nominations for the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award following an exceptional 2024-2025 season. The Liverpool forward's stellar performances have earned him widespread recognition, making him a frontrunner for the prestigious accolade.

Salah's nomination comes after a season where he played a pivotal role in Liverpool's success. His contributions included a remarkable 29 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League. These statistics underscore his importance to the team and highlight his consistent ability to impact games significantly. His previous Premier League Player of the Season award was in 2017-18, during his debut season with Liverpool.

Adding to his list of achievements, Salah has already been voted Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association, securing a record-breaking 90 percent of the votes. This landslide victory indicates the high regard in which he is held by football experts and journalists.

Joining Salah on the PFA Player of the Year shortlist are several other notable players such as Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Arsenal's Declan Rice, Chelsea's Cole Palmer, Newcastle's Alexander Isak, and Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes.

Declan Rice has had a noteworthy season, achieving a career-high of nine goals and 10 assists in all competitions. Alexander Isak's 23 goals were instrumental in Newcastle's qualification for the Champions League. Bruno Fernandes was a standout performer for Manchester United, contributing eight league goals and 10 assists.

The PFA Awards ceremony, where the winner will be announced, is scheduled for August 19 at Manchester Opera House. The PFA Men's Players' Player of the Year award is voted on by members of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA), the players' trade union. Each member votes for two players, making it a highly respected and significant award in English football.

Teddy Sheringham described the award in 2001 as "the biggest personal award you can get in the game", while John Terry in 2005 regarded it as "the ultimate accolade to be voted for by your fellow professionals whom you play against week-in and week-out".

In addition to the PFA Men's Player of the Year award, there are other awards presented, including the PFA Young Player of the Year. The nominees for the PFA Young Player of the Year 2025 are Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez (both from Bournemouth), Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri (both from Arsenal), and Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa).
