Despite an early exit from the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, Flamengo's manager, Filipe Luis, is garnering significant attention from European clubs. Even after Flamengo's 4-2 defeat against Bayern Munich in the round of 16, Filipe Luis's tactical approach and leadership have impressed many.

Filipe Luis, the former Brazilian left-back, has expressed his ambition to coach at the highest level in Europe, with a particular interest in managing in Spain. He acknowledged a blend of pride and disappointment after the Club World Cup. "I'm hurt by the loss," he stated, "We were playing well, sticking to our philosophy. But we faced a giant in Bayern Munich, who deserved to win. Still, I am very proud of what Flamengo achieved in this Club World Cup".

Since taking charge of Flamengo in September 2024, Filipe Luis has achieved considerable success, winning three titles, including the Copa do Brasil. His preferred 4-2-3-1 formation showcases a direct, offensive, and competitive style of play. Flamengo's remarkable 3-1 victory over Chelsea in the Club World Cup highlighted their ability to compete with European teams. This win marked the first victory by a South American side over a European team in the Club World Cup since Corinthians beat Chelsea in the 2012 final.

Filipe Luis's rapid rise as a manager has caught the eye of Atlético de Madrid, where he previously played. He is being considered as a potential successor to Diego Simeone, though Simeone's position remains secure for now. Filipe Luis has acknowledged Simeone's influence on his career, stating, "Simeone changed our lives and the way we think, giving us so much. He inspired us to follow in his footsteps. He is, without a doubt, one of my greatest inspirations".

Despite the defeat to Bayern Munich, Filipe Luis emphasized that the "football elite remained in Europe". He said that experience always helps because these elite clubs have decisive players who don't lose the ball and create dangerous plays. He also noted the importance of his team working together, stating, "The only way to win is with all 11 players pulling in the same direction".

Filipe Luis's journey from player to coach has been marked by a clear vision and a strong commitment to his team. Even though he is focused on his current role with Flamengo, his aspirations to return to Europe and coach at the highest level are evident. His performance at the Club World Cup has undoubtedly enhanced his reputation and increased his appeal to European clubs.
