Rashford's Pre-Season Prep: Navigating Tensions with Man United's Amorim Amidst a Challenging Relationship

Despite a fractured relationship with Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, Marcus Rashford is reportedly planning to participate fully in the team's pre-season. The 27-year-old forward is expected to report for duty with the rest of the squad, even though he has had no contact with Amorim.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. Sources indicate that Rashford feels revitalized after the move. He has spent his summer working with a personal trainer near Marbella. Despite the lack of communication with Amorim and the manager's reported preference for unwanted players to depart before pre-season, Rashford is determined to fight for his place in the team.

This decision is likely to force Manchester United to make a definitive choice regarding Rashford's future. The club reportedly wants £40 million for the player, with Barcelona showing the most interest. However, Barcelona apparently prefers a loan deal, while Bayern Munich is also monitoring the situation. Sources close to Rashford claim that the club has not discussed any of these potential deals with the player.

Complicating the situation is the awareness that Rashford needs a good pre-season to attract buyers, similar to Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia's situations. All three are returning from loans at Chelsea, Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven, respectively.

The relationship between Rashford and Amorim has reportedly deteriorated to the point where they are no longer on speaking terms. Some reports suggest that Amorim only addresses Rashford when speaking to the entire squad. The forward had not played for Manchester United since December 12 due to Amorim's concerns about his attitude and commitment. Amorim even stated that he would rather select the club's 63-year-old goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, than Rashford unless things change.

The origins of the feud reportedly began shortly after Amorim's arrival, with a heated exchange where Amorim accused Rashford of unprofessional behavior related to his nightlife. Rashford denied the accusations, and their relationship has not recovered.

Despite the tension, Amorim has indicated a willingness to welcome Rashford back if he sees improvement. He stated that the team would be much better with Rashford, but the player needs to change.

Rashford's high wages further complicate the situation. Earning over £300,000 weekly with three years remaining on his contract, it would be difficult for Manchester United to justify freezing him out of the squad if no suitable offers are received. Barcelona's interest is complicated by their financial situation, making a loan deal more likely. However, even a loan would require United to cover a portion of Rashford's wages.

Rashford's potential return to Manchester United for pre-season training presents both a challenge and an opportunity for the club. While his relationship with Amorim remains strained, a strong pre-season could increase his market value and attract potential buyers. It also forces United to make a clear decision about his future and either reintegrate him into the squad or facilitate a move.
