After 17 years with Bayern Munich, Thomas Müller is set to leave the club after the conclusion of the 2024/25 season. The club has decided not to extend his contract, marking the end of a 25-year affiliation that began in Bayern's youth academy.

Müller, now 35, announced his departure, acknowledging it was "anything but a normal day" for him. Despite his desire to remain with the club, he respects the decision made by the board and supervisory board. In a social media post, Müller stated that the club's decision was not in line with his personal wishes but he understands that the club must follow its convictions.

His contributions to Bayern Munich have been immense. Müller has made over 700 first-team appearances and won more than 30 titles, solidifying his place as one of the most decorated players in the club's history. His trophy collection includes 13 Bundesliga titles, six DFB Cups, two Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups, and eight domestic Supercups. He has played more games for Bayern than any other player and holds the record for the most Bundesliga titles won.

Looking ahead, Müller is considering his options. In an interview, he mentioned the possibility of ending his playing career if he cannot find the "perfect solution". He is open to new experiences and is contemplating opportunities in other countries. Several Major League Soccer (MLS) teams have expressed interest in him, including Los Angeles FC and FC Cincinnati. Müller has also acknowledged the appeal of playing with Lionel Messi. There have also been reports of interest from Saudi Arabia.

Regardless of where he plays next, Müller's departure marks the end of an era for Bayern Munich. The club is planning to honor him with a testimonial match. His final Bundesliga game for Bayern was against Hoffenheim in May. His last home game is scheduled against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Müller's last games for Bayern will be at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Müller reflected on his time with Bayern, saying it was an incredible journey filled with unique experiences, great encounters, and unforgettable triumphs. He emphasized the special connection he has with the club and its fans, which will remain forever. His focus remains on winning more titles with Bayern before his departure, aiming to bring the Bundesliga title back to Munich.
