McLaren Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri has seemingly revealed his allegiance to Arsenal Football Club. While the young Australian driver is known to be a sports enthusiast with interests in cricket, Aussie rules football, and basketball, his support for the Gunners might come as a surprise to some.

Piastri, born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, began his racing career in radio-controlled cars before transitioning to karting at the age of nine. His career rapidly progressed through various junior series, achieving remarkable success by winning the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup, followed by the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2020 and the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2021. This incredible feat made him the only driver to win the Formula Renault, Formula 3, and Formula 2 titles in consecutive seasons.

In 2023, Piastri joined McLaren in Formula 1, partnering with Lando Norris. Since then, he has impressed with his consistent performances and adaptability. As of the 2025 British Grand Prix, Piastri has seven wins, four pole positions, six fastest laps and 19 podiums.

Beyond the racetrack, Piastri has a wide range of sporting interests. He has mentioned Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting, as well as basketball stars LeBron James and Michael Jordan, as his sporting heroes. He is also a supporter of the Richmond Tigers, an Australian Rules Football team.

While Piastri enjoys following a variety of sports, he has now indicated that he supports Arsenal. Details surrounding the pronouncement of his support for the London club are sparse, it is known that his fellow F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton, is also an Arsenal fan, although he had supported other teams when he was younger.

It remains to be seen how deep Piastri's Arsenal fandom goes. Nevertheless, his support will surely be welcomed by Arsenal fans worldwide.
