Shubman Gill is currently leading the Indian cricket team in a five-match Test series against England. Despite the series being only at its halfway point, with two Tests concluded and the third in progress, the team, under Gill's captaincy, has already achieved a significant all-time Test record.

India now holds the record for the most sixes scored in a single away Test series. The team has hit an impressive 36 sixes, surpassing the previous record held jointly by West Indies and New Zealand, who each recorded 32 sixes in a series. This achievement highlights the aggressive and dominant batting approach adopted by the Indian team in this series.

In the second Test at Edgbaston, Gill showcased exceptional batting skills, setting several new records. He became the first player in the 148-year history of Test cricket to score a double century and a 150 in the same match. Gill's scores in the match were 269 and 161 respectively.

Gill's performance at Edgbaston also led him to break Virat Kohli's record for the highest individual score by an Indian captain in a Test match. His score of 269 surpassed Kohli's previous best of 254 against South Africa in Pune in 2019. Furthermore, this score is now the highest by an Indian captain abroad, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's 241* at Sydney in 2004. Gill's 269 is also the seventh-highest score by any Indian in Tests and the eighth-highest by a visiting batter in an England Test, placing him ahead of legends like Zaheer Abbas and Graeme Smith.

Additionally, Gill's aggregate of 430 runs in the Edgbaston Test is the second-highest by any batter in a single Test match. He is only behind Graham Gooch, who scored 456 runs against India in 1990.

With his outstanding performance, Gill has positioned himself to potentially break Don Bradman's 88-year-old record for the most Test runs by a captain in a series. Gill has already scored 585 runs in the first two matches and is only 225 runs short of surpassing Bradman's record. Bradman scored 810 runs in five Test matches during the 1936-37 Ashes series against England. Gill is also approaching Sunil Gavaskar's Indian record of 732 runs in a series. He needs 148 more runs to break that record.

In addition to these feats, Gill has joined an elite list of Indian players who have scored over 300 runs in a single Test in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries. Before him, only Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar had achieved this milestone.

India won the second Test match against England by 336 runs. India has won 3, lost 12, and drawn 4 of the 19 Test matches that the team has played at Lord's.
