Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old cricket prodigy from Bihar, has once again etched his name in the record books, this time showcasing his all-round abilities in the ongoing Youth Test match between India Under-19 and England Under-19 at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham. Suryavanshi, already known for his batting exploits, created history by becoming the youngest Indian to take a wicket in a Youth Test match. He followed this up with a rapid 56 off 44 balls in India's second innings, further solidifying his reputation as a rising star.

On July 13, 2025, Suryavanshi, at the age of 14 years and 107 days, achieved the milestone of becoming the youngest Indian to claim a wicket in a Youth Test. The young left-arm spinner dismissed England captain Hamza Shaikh, who miscued a full toss and was caught by Henil Patel at long-off. This crucial breakthrough ended a 154-run partnership between Shaikh and Rocky Flintoff. Suryavanshi later added another wicket to his tally, dismissing wicketkeeper Thomas Rew, who edged a delivery to Abhigyan Kundu. He finished with figures of 2/35 in 13 overs.

Suryavanshi's record surpasses the previous Indian mark held by Manishi of Jharkhand, who took a wicket against South Africa in 2019 at the age of just over 15 years. Overall, Suryavanshi is the third-youngest bowler to achieve this feat in Youth Test history, behind Pakistani players Mahmood Malik and Hidayatullah Khan, who set their records at 13 years of age.

Adding to his impressive performance with the ball, Suryavanshi also shone with the bat in India's second innings. He scored a quickfire 56 off 44 balls, which included a strong partnership with captain Ayush Mhatre. This innings helped India extend their lead to 229 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on March 27, 2011, in Tajpur, Bihar. He began playing cricket at the age of four and joined a cricket academy in Samastipur at nine. Suryavanshi made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024. In November 2024, he became the youngest player to sign an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract when he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals. He also became the youngest player to debut in T20 cricket at the age of 13 years and 241 days.

Suryavanshi has been breaking records consistently. He scored a 58-ball century on his under-19 Test debut, which was the fastest for an Indian under-19 player. He also holds the record for the fastest century in Youth ODIs, scoring a ton off 52 balls against England.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's recent performances in the Youth Test against England U-19 have further cemented his place as a player to watch out for. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him a valuable asset to the Indian team. As he continues to develop his skills, he is expected to break many more records in the future.
