Yashasvi Jaiswal has been identified as an Indian star capable of rapidly accelerating the scoreboard, even though he is neither Shubman Gill nor Rishabh Pant. This observation comes after India's defeat to England in the third Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad pinpointed Jaiswal's early dismissal as a key turning point in the match.

Chasing a target of 193, India's innings faltered after Jaiswal's quick departure. He was caught out attempting a pull shot off a Jofra Archer delivery, managing only a seven-ball duck. Broad described the shot as "a really bad shot," suggesting Jaiswal should have aimed to cut the ball instead. Broad felt that Jaiswal's wicket allowed England to take early control of the game.

Broad highlighted the significance of Jaiswal's aggressive batting style, noting that such players can quickly take the game away from the opposition. He compared Jaiswal to players like Virender Sehwag and David Warner, who can dominate from the start. Broad said that if such players "up 60 for none or one off ten, the game is sort of done". His early exit, according to Broad, injected energy into the England bowling attack.

The former England pacer also noted the effect of Karun Nair's arrival at the crease, who "plays each ball on merit". According to Broad, this allowed England to "control it and set attacking fields, create pressure". Archer and Brydon Carse then took quick wickets, increasing the pressure on the visitors. India went from being confident to struggling, with the psychological pressure impacting the remaining batsmen. India had fallen to 58/4 by the end of Day 4 and was ultimately unable to recover.

Despite his assessment of Jaiswal's shot selection, Broad acknowledged Jaiswal's ability to keep the scoreboard moving. While Jaiswal has scored runs in the series, he has also found ways to get out.

Jos Buttler felt that Ravindra Jadeja was a difficult player to dismiss. Jadeja, who remained unbeaten on 61, kept the visitors in the hunt. Buttler said that it can be frustrating when a recognized batter is batting with the tailenders because if the field is brought up, the batter could score boundaries.

With England now leading the five-match series 2-1, India faces pressure to regroup. The next Test is scheduled to begin on July 23 in Manchester.
