Mohammed Siraj has opened up about the crucial dropped catch of Harry Brook on Day 4 of the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval. The dropped catch occurred when Brook was on 19, with Siraj misjudging the catch at long leg off Prasidh Krishna's bowling. While attempting the catch, Siraj stepped on the boundary cushion, turning a potential dismissal into a six. Brook went on to score a brilliant 111 off 98 balls, shifting the momentum in England's favor.

Reflecting on the missed opportunity, Siraj admitted that he was deeply troubled by it. "To be honest, the emotions I have right now (after the win), I cannot describe them because yesterday (Sunday) I dropped the catch. When I was going to bed (after day 4), I was only thinking about 'how could I drop it'," Siraj said in a video posted by BCCI. He further added, "Had I taken that catch, we wouldn't have had to come out and play on Monday. We would have been in the room relaxed. But the Almighty had something else in store for us".

Siraj revealed that he couldn't forgive himself and kept thinking about the missed opportunity. "When I was going to sleep after stumps on Day 4, I kept thinking about the dropped catch of Harry Brook. I was just thinking, 'How could I have done such a thing?' If I had taken it cleanly, we wouldn't be here right now. We would have been chilling in our hotel rooms," said Siraj. He also apologized to Prasidh Krishna for the costly fielding error.

Despite the setback, Siraj was determined to make amends. Before the final day's play, he searched "Believe" on Google and set a "Believe" emoji as his phone wallpaper, motivating himself to perform for the team. "When I woke up in the morning (on Monday), my inner self told me that I can do it, I can change the game. I had that belief," he said.

Siraj bounced back strongly, playing a crucial role in India's victory. He finished with a match-winning five-wicket haul in the second innings, helping India level the series 2-2. He was also named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. Siraj finished the series as the leading wicket-taker with 23 scalps.

Former cricketers also weighed in on the dropped catch. Mohammad Kaif acknowledged that it could have been a costly moment but highlighted Siraj's overall bowling performance. Ricky Ponting suggested the missed opportunity could prove expensive, while Ravi Shastri felt it would fuel Siraj's determination.

Siraj also expressed how much he missed Jasprit Bumrah's presence in the match. "I miss Jassi (Bumrah) bhai because had he been there, it would have been special. I believe in Jassi bhai and myself," said Siraj. He dedicated his Man of the Match performance to the team. Google India also celebrated Siraj's heroics with a clever tribute referencing his viral quote about Jasprit Bumrah.
