Nottingham Forest targets Dyche and Mancini amidst Postecoglou's unexpected departure: Managerial shakeup at the club.

Nottingham Forest have initiated contact with Sean Dyche and Roberto Mancini following the swift dismissal of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager was sacked just 40 days into his tenure, shortly after the team's 3-0 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday. The club confirmed the decision in a statement, citing "a series of disappointing results and performances".

Postecoglou's brief reign marks the shortest in Premier League history, only preceded by Sam Allardyce's 30-day stint with Leeds in 2023. He failed to secure a single win in his eight games in charge, leaving the team perilously close to the relegation zone. The defeat to Chelsea proved to be the final straw for owner Evangelos Marinakis, who reportedly left his seat before the end of the match.

Following the match, Postecoglou addressed the players, seemingly unaware of his impending dismissal. The players were later informed of the decision. Forest captain Ryan Yates expressed the squad's disappointment, acknowledging the need for improvement and unity.

Forest are now actively seeking their third manager of the season, having previously dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo in September. Sean Dyche has emerged as a frontrunner for the position. The former Burnley and Everton boss has a proven track record of instilling resilience in his teams and guiding them away from relegation. Moreover, Dyche's historical connection with the club could be a decisive factor, as he played for Forest at both youth and senior levels.

Roberto Mancini is also under consideration. The former Manchester City manager has been out of work since leaving his role with the Saudi Arabia national team in 2024.

Other names linked with the Nottingham Forest job include Marco Silva, and Mauricio Pochettino. However, reports suggest that Pochettino is unlikely to leave his current role as the American national team coach.

The club faces a Europa League tie against FC Porto next Thursday, adding urgency to their search for a new manager.
