Alex Scott Relies on Stepsister Maya Le Tissier's Counsel in Navigating England's Football Landscape.

Alex Scott, the rising star midfielder from Bournemouth, is finding a reliable source of support and advice in his stepsister, Maya Le Tissier, as he embarks on his senior international career with England. The 22-year-old Scott received his first call-up to the senior England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.

Le Tissier, a defender and captain for Manchester United in the Women's Super League (WSL), has already established herself on the international stage with 10 senior caps for the Lionesses and was a part of the squad that won the European Championship this summer.

The close bond between the pair, who grew up together on Guernsey, has been a source of mutual support throughout their footballing journeys. They played together in the same junior team on the Channel Island, fostering a connection that has remained strong as they've progressed through their careers. "We've grown up together, playing football together in the same teams back home, local football," Scott said. "We're very close. We speak most days. And like I said before, obviously so proud of where she's come from, and now where she is so successful".

Scott acknowledged the valuable advice he's received from his stepsister as he prepares to navigate the pressures of international football. "She has told me to just enjoy it and be yourself and show what you can do and do what you've been doing for all these years," he revealed. Le Tissier's experience with the Lionesses and in high-pressure situations makes her an ideal mentor for Scott as he begins his international journey. "It's nice to have someone around who's experienced it and been around the Lionesses and England in general, she can help me out with advice on playing at the top level and top pressured situation".

Both Scott and Le Tissier began their footballing journeys at a young age. Le Tissier, born in Guernsey, started playing for St. Martin's AC, a local boys' club, at age four, as there were no girls' teams available. She later moved to the mainland, joining Brighton & Hove Albion's academy in 2018 and making her senior debut that same year. In 2022, she signed with Manchester United, where she has become a key player and was named captain in August 2024.

Scott's early career saw him playing for Guernsey FC before joining Bristol City in 2020. He signed with Bournemouth in 2023 and has made over 50 appearances for the club. His performances with Bournemouth and the U-21 England team led to his first senior call-up.

The success of Scott and Le Tissier serves as an inspiration for young footballers in Guernsey and the Channel Islands. Le Tissier has expressed pride in helping create a pathway for other players from the island to follow their dreams.

With Scott's senior call-up, he and Le Tissier are set to become the first step-siblings to represent England's men's and women's teams. Both players have deep roots in Guernsey. The pair's journey from playing together on the Channel Island to representing England at the highest level is a testament to their dedication, talent, and the strong bond they share.
