The wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, which was scheduled for today, November 23, 2025, in Sangli, Maharashtra, has been postponed indefinitely due to a family medical emergency. Mandhana's father, Srinivas Mandhana, was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital in Sangli after experiencing symptoms of a heart attack.
According to Dr. Naman Shah, Director of Sarvhit Hospital, Srinivas Mandhana showed signs of a heart attack after complaining of pain on the left side of his chest. Doctors believe the health issue was potentially triggered by the physical and mental stress associated with the wedding preparations. He is currently under observation and undergoing tests.
Tuhin Mishra, Smriti Mandhana's manager, confirmed that the cricketer made it clear that she did not wish to proceed with the wedding amidst the medical emergency. Mishra stated that Srinivas Mandhana began feeling unwell during breakfast, and his condition worsened, prompting the family to call an ambulance and rush him to the hospital.
"Smriti is very close to her father," Mishra told PTI videos. "She decided that until her father gets well, this marriage, which was supposed to happen today, is indefinitely postponed".
The wedding was set to be a private ceremony with close friends and family in attendance. Pre-wedding celebrations, including traditional rituals like Mehendi, Haldi, and Sangeet, had already commenced. However, the focus has now shifted entirely to Srinivas Mandhana's health and recovery. Work is currently underway to remove the decorations at the Samdol wedding venue.
Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal made their relationship public in July 2024. Muchhal proposed to Mandhana at DY Patil Stadium after India's World Cup triumph, leading her blindfolded onto the pitch and proposing with a ring. He even got a tattoo of "SM18" on his forearm. The couple had chosen November 23, 2025, to begin their next chapter.
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time. The wedding will be rescheduled once Srinivas Mandhana recovers.
