Rohit Sharma Reclaims Top ODI Spot, While Mitchell Starc Achieves Peak Test Ranking.

In the latest ICC Men's Player Rankings update, released today, Rohit Sharma has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ODI batting rankings, while Mitchell Starc has achieved a career-best position in the Test bowler rankings. These updates follow recent standout performances by both players in their respective formats.

Rohit Sharma Reclaims Top ODI Batter Ranking

Rohit Sharma, the former Indian captain, has once again ascended to the summit of the ICC ODI batting rankings. This achievement comes ahead of the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. Sharma's return to the top spot was facilitated by New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell, who lost valuable rating points after missing the final two matches of the Black Caps' 3-0 series sweep against the West Indies.

Sharma now holds the No. 1 position with 781 rating points. Rohit has been a consistent presence in the top 10 rankings for the majority of the last decade and held the No. 3 spot before the Australia series. He went past Team India captain and teammate Shubman Gill and Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran to claim the top spot with 781 ranking points.

Sharma's recent form has been impressive, particularly in the ODI series against Australia, where he was named Player of the Series after scoring 202 runs in three matches. He played a gritty innings of 73 off 97 balls in the second ODI in Adelaide and followed it up with a masterful 121 off 125 balls in the third and final ODI in Sydney, guiding India to a nine-wicket victory. In the process, Sharma also completed a major milestone of 50 international centuries. To date, Sharma has 11,370 ODI runs to his name, including 33 centuries and 59 half-centuries, and a healthy average of 49.22.

Other notable movements in the ODI rankings include Rachin Ravindra, who climbed one place to 12th, and Devon Conway, who jumped 11 spots to 31st among ODI batters. West Indies skipper Shai Hope also rose to eighth position following his unbeaten century in the second ODI of the series. In the bowling rankings, Mitchell Santner moved up to sixth, and Matt Henry rose to joint 10th after their dominant performance.

Mitchell Starc Achieves Career-Best Test Ranking

Mitchell Starc, the Australian fast bowler, has reached a career-high fifth position among Test bowlers in the ICC Test Player Rankings. Starc's ascent follows his Player of the Match performance in the recent Test match against England.

Starc's current ICC ranking is 9th. Starc has 412 wickets in 101 matches. His best bowling figures are 7/58 against England.

Other significant movements in the Test rankings include England's Ollie Pope, who rose to 24th, and Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, and Mominul Haque, who all made significant gains after their side's win over Ireland. Ben Stokes climbed to second position among Test all-rounders, behind India's Ravindra Jadeja.
