After the CHL won the inaugural challenge last year, the USNTDP emerged victorious in a thrilling series that went to a "Super Overtime". The USNTDP won the first game 4-2, while the CHL rallied to win the second game 4-3, setting the stage for a dramatic 3-on-3 overtime period to decide the series. Victor Plante ultimately sealed the win for the USNTDP, scoring 5:53 into the Super Overtime.

Several players stood out during the two-game series, solidifying their status as top prospects. For the CHL, Xavier Villeneuve was a dominant force, showcasing competitiveness and skill. Caleb Malhotra, the CHL team captain, consistently impressed with his two-way play, playmaking vision, and shorthanded goal. Chase Reid, a right-shot defenseman, displayed his offensive capabilities and smart play-reading. Mathis Preston contributed with a multi-point game, demonstrating his speed and offensive instincts. Daxon Rudolph contributed two assists in Game 2. Alessandro Di Iorio also made his mark, scoring a goal in Game 2. JP Hurlbert, who previously played for the USNTDP, also scored for the CHL. Carson Carels was the CHL's top defenseman, providing shutdown defense and physicality. Zachary Jonvanovski made 24 saves in the second game for the CHL.

On the USNTDP side, Brady Knowling was exceptional in Game 1, making 42 saves and earning player of the game honors. Wyatt Cullen had a strong opening game, scoring twice and displaying his excellent skating ability. Victor Plante not only scored the series-winning goal but also contributed in regulation. The CHL/USA Prospects Challenge provides a valuable platform for young players to showcase their talent and compete against top-tier competition. CHL president Dan MacKenzie emphasized the high level of competition and the opportunity for players to demonstrate their abilities in meaningful games. Windsor Spitfires forward Ethan Belchetz viewed the event as a chance to display his skills and enjoy the experience with his teammates.

The USNTDP's victory marks a significant achievement for the program and highlights the depth of talent in the United States. The top performers from both sides have undoubtedly caught the attention of scouts and will be closely watched as they continue their development. The 2026 CHL USA Prospects Challenge will be hosted in two QMJHL markets, which are yet to be announced.
