Lucknow, India – Promising Indian shuttlers Unnati Hooda, Kidambi Srikanth, and Tanvi Sharma have all secured their places in the semi-finals of the Syed Modi International Super 300 badminton tournament. Sixteen-year-old Tanvi Sharma, who previously defeated former world champion Nozomi Okuhara, continued her impressive run by dispatching Hong Kong's Lo Sin Yan Happy in straight games, 21-13, 21-19, in just 38 minutes. Sharma will now face Japan's fifth-seeded Hina Akechi, who overcame third seed Sung Shuo Yun, in the semi-finals. Sharma, a Junior World Championships silver medalist, aims to maintain her momentum and secure a spot in the final on her home ground.
Top-seeded Unnati Hooda also advanced to the semi-finals after a hard-fought victory against fellow Indian rising star Rakshitha Sree Santosh R. Hooda won the match 21-15, 13-21, 21-16. She is set to face Turkey's fourth seed Neslihan Arin, who defeated India's Isharani Baruah with a score of 21-19, 13-21, 21-15.
In the men's singles, Kidambi Srikanth progressed to the semi-finals after his compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat retired due to injury when the score was 21-14, 11-4 in favor of Srikanth. Srikanth will now face Mithun Manjunath in an all-Indian semi-final clash. Manjunath secured his place by defeating Manraj Singh 21-18, 21-13.
While the Indian contingent celebrated these victories, Singapore's top seed Jai Heng Jason Teh was eliminated from the tournament. Teh lost to Japan's Minoru Koga in a closely contested match that lasted over an hour, with scores of 19-21, 21-12, 20-22. Koga is now set to compete against Hong Kong's Jason Gunawan in the semi-finals.
In the women's doubles event, the top-seeded Indian pair of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly secured their semi-final berth by defeating the Turkish duo Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci 21-15, 21-16. Treesa Jolly continued her successful run in the mixed doublesevent alongside Hariharan Amsakarunan. The pair defeated Australia's Andika Ramadiansyah and Nozomi Shimizu 21-18, 21-14 to reach the semi-finals.
