Lucknow, November 29, 2025 – The Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament witnessed thrilling badminton action as Kidambi Srikanth edged past Mithun Manjunath to secure a spot in the semi-finals, while the dynamic women's doubles duo, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, punched their ticket to the finals.
Kidambi Srikanth's path to the semi-finals wasn't straightforward. He was leading his quarter-final match against Priyanshu Rajawat when Rajawat had to retire due to an injury. The score stood at 21-14, 11-4 in Srikanth's favor when Rajawat was forced to concede. In the semi-final match between Kidambi Srikanth and Mithun Manjunath, Srikanth showcased resilience and skill, solidifying his position as a top contender in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Mithun Manjunath had earlier defeated Manraj Singh with a score of 21-18, 21-13 to set up the all-Indian semi-final clash with Srikanth.
In the women's doubles event, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, the top seeds, displayed their dominance by defeating Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci of Turkey in straight games, 21-15, 21-16, to secure their place in the semi-finals. Jolly and Gopichand have been in impressive form throughout the tournament, demonstrating a strong partnership and strategic gameplay. They are the defending champions and have enjoyed a comfortable run in Lucknow. In their opening match, Jolly and Gopichand faced a tough challenge from Malaysia's Cheng Su Hui and Tan Zhing Yi, but they fought back to win 19-21, 22-20, 21-9.
Treesa Jolly also advanced to the mixed doubles semi-finals with partner Hariharan Amsakarunan, after they beat Andika Ramadiansyah and Nozomi Shimizu of Australia 21-18, 21-14.
In other notable results, Tanvi Sharma continued her impressive run by reaching the women's singles semi-finals. The 16-year-old defeated Lo Sin Yan Happy of Hong Kong 21-13, 21-19 in 38 minutes. Sharma will face Hina Akechi of Japan in the semi-finals. Unnati Hooda also progressed to the women's singles semi-finals after beating compatriot Rakshitha Ramraj 21-15, 13-21, 21-16. Hooda is set to face Neslihan Arin of Turkey in the semi-finals.
