Sagar, Madhya Pradesh: In a stunning achievement, three-year-old Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha has become the youngest chess player in the world to achieve a FIDE ranking. Sarwagya, a resident of Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, India, has been recognized by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) for his exceptional chess skills at the tender age of 3 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
Sarwagya's FIDE ID is 558059504, and his birth year is 2022. He achieved a FIDE rating of 1572. This remarkable feat has placed him in the 1572nd position in the FIDE rankings. Previously, the record for the youngest FIDE-rated player was held by Anish Sarkar of West Bengal, who achieved the ranking at the age of 3 years and 8 months.
To obtain a FIDE ranking, a player must defeat an internationally-rated player. Sarwagya accomplished this by defeating three international-level chess players in a short period. Sarwagya's journey into chess began as an effort by his parents to keep him away from smartphones. Recognizing his natural talent for the game, they arranged for a personal coach and online training. After only six months of training with his personal coach Nitin Chaurasia and national instructor Akash Pyaasi, who trained him for about 4 hours a day, Sarwagya secured his place in the FIDE rankings.
Sarwagya has already participated in chess tournaments in various cities, including Mangaluru, Khandwa, and Chhindwara. His success has brought immense joy to his parents, Siddharth Singh Kushwaha and Neha Singh Kushwaha, who aspire to see him become a Grandmaster. Siddharth Singh Kushwaha noted Sarwagya's rapid learning and expertise, stating that after just six months of training, he became an expert, playing chess for about six hours a day. Neha Singh Kushwaha expressed her belief in her son's potential and the importance of hard work and divine grace in his journey.
Sandeep GR, the collector, played a role in promoting chess in the district by launching special training programs in schools. Regular practice and discipline at the District Chess Association also helped Sarwagya achieve this feat.
Sarwagya's achievement has been widely celebrated, with many praising his dedication and talent. His success serves as an inspiration to young chess enthusiasts worldwide.
