Scott Parker affirms Burnley's unwavering resolve and commitment to fight despite the recent losing streak.

Burnley's struggles continue as they suffered their fifth consecutive Premier League defeat, falling 1-0 at home to Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Daniel Munoz's header shortly before halftime proved to be the decisive moment in a game where Burnley once again found goals hard to come by.

Despite the disappointing result, Burnley manager Scott Parker delivered a defiant message, vowing that his team would not give up the fight to maintain their Premier League status. Parker acknowledged the team's current predicament, sitting second from bottom in the league table, but insisted that they would continue to battle and show character.

The game against Crystal Palace followed a familiar pattern for Burnley. They controlled possession for extended periods, but struggled to create clear-cut chances in the final third. Their expected goals (xG) before halftime was a meager 0.07, highlighting their struggles to threaten the Palace goal.

Parker's substitutions, introducing Jacob Bruun Larsen, Hannibal Mejbri, and Marcus Edwards, sparked an improvement in Burnley's attacking play after the break. Bruun Larsen's cross created a chance for Lyle Foster, whose volley was blocked, and Josh Cullen was also denied on the follow-up. Bruun Larsen himself came close to scoring, but his powerful shot was brilliantly tipped onto the crossbar by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Despite the increased pressure, Burnley failed to find the breakthrough they desperately needed. They have now failed to score in five games this season, and their inability to convert possession into goals is a major concern.

Burnley's attacking woes are further highlighted by their league-low average of 2.9 corners per game and a mere 37 shots in six home Premier League games this season. They also have the lowest amount of shots per game (8.2) in the Premier League since Opta started recording that data in 1997.

Parker had spoken of the "massive progression" he had seen in his squad, conveying optimism, before their recent 3-1 defeat to Brentford. However, their chances of remaining in the top flight look "very grim".

Despite the setbacks, Parker remains determined to turn things around. He will need to find a way to unlock his team's attacking potential and convert their fighting spirit into points if Burnley are to climb out of the relegation zone.
