East Bengal's Dominant Performance Secures Super Cup Final Berth After Triumph Over Punjab FC

Fatorda, Goa, December 4, 2025 – East Bengal secured a spot in the AIFF Super Cup final with a commanding 3-1 victory over Punjab FC at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda, Goa. The "Red and Gold" brigade showcased a dominant performance, overcoming a Punjab FC side that struggled after fielding only three foreign players in their starting lineup.

East Bengal wasted no time in asserting their control over the match. Mohammed Rashid set the tone early, scoring in the 12th minute with a long-range shot that found the back of the net. Punjab FC, however, responded, with Daniel Ramirez leveling the score from a penalty in the 34th minute after a handball inside the box.

East Bengal refused to let the momentum slip. Just before halftime, Kevin Sibille rose above the Punjab defense to head in a corner from Miguel Ferreira, restoring East Bengal's lead. The goal was followed by a heated moment as East Bengal's coach, Oscar Bruzon, was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for excessive celebration. Bruzon will miss the final.

Despite the coach's absence on the touchline, East Bengal maintained composure and control throughout the second half. Punjab FC struggled to create opportunities, while East Bengal continued to dominate possession. In the 71st minute, Saul Crespo sealed the victory with a stunning strike from outside the box, extending East Bengal's lead to 3-1.

East Bengal's journey to the final saw them top their group after a draw against Mohun Bagan. Punjab FC, making their first Super Cup semi-final appearance, also topped their group, securing a win against Bengaluru FC.

The win marks East Bengal's second final of the season, following a narrow defeat to Mohun Bagan SG in the IFA Shield. They will now face either FC Goa or Mumbai City FC in the Super Cup final.

The Super Cup final is scheduled to take place at the Fatorda Stadium on December 7.
