Boston's 2026 World Cup: Match Schedule, Dates, and Venue Information for Games Held in the City

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be a historic event, with matches held across 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Boston, or more accurately, Foxborough, Massachusetts, will play a significant role in hosting seven matches during the tournament. Gillette Stadium, which will be temporarily known as Boston Stadium for the duration of the tournament, will be the venue for all seven games.

The tournament will begin on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, but the action arrives in the Boston area just two days later. The first match at Boston Stadium is scheduled for June 13, 2026, with Haiti facing Scotland at 9 p.m. ET.

Here’s a complete list of the matches to be played at Boston Stadium:

  • June 13, 2026: Haiti vs. Scotland – 9 p.m. ET
  • June 16, 2026: FIFA 2 Winner (either Iraq, Bolivia, or Suriname) vs. Norway – 6 p.m. ET

These matches include five group-stage games, one Round of 32 fixture, and a quarter-final match. The full match schedule provides the framework for the expanded 104-game tournament, featuring 48 teams across the three host countries.

Notably, the match on June 26 between Norway and France could feature a face-off between Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe and Manchester City's Erling Haaland. England, with a team filled with stars like Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, and Declan Rice, will also play in Foxborough.

To accommodate the anticipated crowds, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) will run an expanded schedule, with an unprecedented number of trains serving Boston Stadium. While parking is available at the stadium, public transit is the recommended mode of transport.

Gillette Stadium is currently undergoing a major renovation project in preparation for the 2026 tournament. Once completed, it will feature the largest outdoor high-definition stadium video board in the country, measuring 22,000 square feet, along with 50,000 square feet of glass-enclosed hospitality and function spaces and 360-degree connectivity between all levels of the concourses.

Tickets for the FIFA World Cup 2026 have been in high demand, with millions of people signing up for the lottery to get a chance to purchase them. Fans can still register for the Early Ticket Draw for a chance to be selected to purchase tickets. After the Final Draw on December 5, 2025, applications will open for a Random Selection Draw, allowing fans to apply for specific matches. Remaining seats will be released on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to the matches, there will be a FIFA Fan Festival, offering match screenings, food and drink, and live entertainment. The location for the official Fan Festival will be announced soon.
