Guwahati Masters Badminton: Tanvi Sharma, Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy, and Sai Pratheek K Fall Short in Final Matches.

Indian shuttlers faced setbacks at the Guwahati Masters Super 100 tournament as Tanvi Sharma, Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy, and Sai Pratheek K all suffered defeats in their respective finals on December 7, 2025.

Tanvi Sharma, who had an impressive run to the women's singles final, could not clinch the title. The eighth-seeded Indian, who had earlier stunned third seed Hina Akechi of Japan in the semi-finals with a 21-18, 21-16 victory, faced Tung Ciou-Tong of Chinese Taipei in the summit clash. Despite her best efforts, Sharma could not overcome Tung, missing out on her maiden Super 100 title.

Sharma has had a strong season, securing the Denmark Open International Challenge title in May and finishing as runner-up at the US Open Super 300 tournament in June and the World Junior Championships in October. She also reached the Odisha Masters final in 2024.

In the men's doubles, top seeds Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Sai Pratheek K also experienced disappointment in the final. The Indian pair, who had defeated Indonesia's Prasetya Anselmus and Ramadhan Pulung in the semi-finals with a 21-16, 22-20 score, were unable to replicate their success in the final against Malaysia's Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing.

While these players couldn't secure titles, the Guwahati Masters guaranteed India a gold medal in the men's singles, with Mithun Manjunath and Sanskar Saraswat setting up an all-Indian final. Sanskar Saraswat had defeated Indonesia's Dendi Triansyah 21-19, 21-19 in the semi-finals, while Mithun Manjunath overcame compatriot Tushar Suveer with a 22-20, 21-8 victory.

In other events, the mixed doubles campaign for Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde ended in the semi-finals against Thailand's Tanadon Punpanichi and Fungfa Korpthammakit. Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam also lost in the women's doubles against Malaysia's Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting.
