LAVAL, Quebec – A well-rounded offensive effort propelled Montreal Victoire to a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Sceptres on Sunday. Kati Tabin, Hayley Scamurra, and Laura Stacey each found the back of the net for the Victoire, securing their second consecutive win. Goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens was solid in net, stopping 21 of the 22 shots she faced.

The Victoire set the tone early, with Tabin scoring the opening goal at 8:38 of the first period. Her shot from the point navigated through traffic and past Sceptres goalie Raygan Kirk. Montreal dominated the first period, outshooting Toronto 12-3. A goal by Marie-Philip Poulin was disallowed late in the first period after review.

Scamurra extended Montreal's lead early in the second period. Her centering pass deflected off Toronto defender Kali Flanagan and into the net. For Scamurra, who signed with Montreal in the offseason, this was her first game against Toronto since playing 19 games with the Sceptres last season.

Toronto responded early in the third period when Emma Gentry fired a shot over Desbiens' shoulder, scoring her first PWHL goal. However, Montreal quickly restored their two-goal lead as Stacey found the back of the net a few minutes later.

The Sceptres had a chance to close the gap when they had a full two minutes with a five-on-three advantage in the final period, but they were unable to capitalize. Desbiens made five saves during that stretch, including a key stop on Ella Shelton, to preserve Montreal's lead.

Raygan Kirk made 27 saves for Toronto in the losing effort.

This was the first of three games between Montreal and Toronto in three different arenas. The two teams will meet again on December 17 in Halifax as part of the PWHL's Takeover Tour and again on December 27 at the Bell Centre.
