The Indian Premier League (IPL) has consistently showcased explosive batting performances since its inception in 2008. A century in the IPL is a testament to a player's exceptional skill, resilience, and ability to dominate under pressure. Over the years, numerous batsmen have etched their names into the record books with memorable three-figure scores. As of May 22, 2025, a total of 108 centuries have been scored in IPL history by 58 different batsmen.

The first-ever IPL century was struck in the inaugural match on April 18, 2008, by Brendon McCullum of Kolkata Knight Riders, who blazed his way to an unbeaten 158 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This innings set the tone for the high-octane cricket that would define the league. Among those 108 centuries, 30 have been scored by Indian players, and 28 by overseas players which shows the global appeal and talent the IPL attracts.

Virat Kohli currently holds the record for the most centuries in IPL history, with eight to his name, all scored for Royal Challengers Bangalore. His consistency and ability to convert good starts into big scores have made him a formidable force in the league. Following Kohli is Jos Buttler, who has seven centuries playing for Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. Chris Gayle, known for his aggressive batting style, has six centuries, including the highest individual score in IPL history: an unbeaten 175 off just 66 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors India in 2013. This innings also featured the fastest century in IPL history, reached in a mere 30 balls.

Several other players have multiple centuries to their names. KL Rahul has five centuries, demonstrating his class and consistency at the top of the order. David Warner, Shane Watson, and Shubman Gill have four centuries each, while AB de Villiers and Sanju Samson have three. Shikhar Dhawan, Jos Buttler, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are the only four players to score centuries in consecutive matches.

The 2023 season witnessed a record-breaking 12 centuries, the highest in a single IPL season, scored by nine different players. In contrast, the 2009 season saw the fewest centuries, with only two being scored. In the ongoing 2025 season, several batsmen have already added their names to the century list, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Priyansh Arya. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals became the youngest-ever centurion at just 14 years and 23 days old, scoring a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans. Nineteen-year-old Priyansh Arya of Punjab Kings also made a mark with a blistering 39-ball century against Chennai Super Kings. Ishan Kishan leads the list of centuries in IPL 2025 with a hundred for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals.

Punjab Kings leads the charts in terms of unique centurions, with 12 batters having scored 14 centuries for the team. Royal Challengers Bangalore has registered the most centuries with 19. The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has hosted the most IPL centuries, with 17 being scored at the venue.
