India's FIH Pro League Struggles Continue: Argentina Defeat Seals Third Consecutive Loss in a Tight Match.

The Indian men's hockey team suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat against Argentina in a thrilling FIH Pro League 2024-25 match held at the Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. This loss marks India's third consecutive defeat in the European leg of the Pro League.

Argentina started strongly, with Matias Rey scoring in the 3rd minute to give his team an early lead. India absorbed the early pressure and responded well, with captain Harmanpreet Singh converting a penalty corner in the 12th minute to level the score.

The second quarter saw Argentina regain the lead through Lucas Martinez in the 17th minute. Despite India's efforts to equalize, Argentina managed to hold on to their lead going into halftime.

India started the third quarter with renewed vigor, and Harmanpreet Singh scored again in the 33rd minute via a penalty stroke, bringing the score level at 2-2. However, Argentina responded immediately, with Santiago Tarazona scoring in the 34th minute to make it 3-2. India mounted pressure on the Argentine defense and found an equalizer through Abhishek in the 42nd minute, ending the third quarter at 3-3.

In the final quarter, Argentina once again took the lead, with Lucio Mendez scoring in the 46th minute. Despite relentless attacks, the Indian team was unable to find another equalizer, resulting in a 4-3 defeat.

Harmanpreet Singh scored twice for India, while Abhishek contributed one goal. For Argentina, Matias Rey, Lucas Martinez, Santiago Tarazona, and Lucio Mendez were the goalscorers.

With this result, India remains fourth in the FIH Pro League points table, with 15 points from 11 games. Argentina has now drawn level on points with India and Spain. India will face Argentina again on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
