The highly anticipated match between St. Louis City SC and the LA Galaxy at Energizer Park on June 14, 2025, saw an early breakthrough as Joao Klauss found the back of the net, giving the home side a 1-0 lead. The goal, scored in the 35th minute, ignited the crowd and showcased the offensive capabilities of St. Louis City SC.

Klauss's goal was a result of slick link-up play in the box, with Marcel Hartel delivering a precise pass that Klauss expertly converted. The goal marked another significant moment for Klauss, who previously scored against the San Jose Earthquakes in their 2-1 victory on May 31st. In that match, Klauss opened the scoring, demonstrating his knack for breaking stalemates and giving his team the advantage.

However, the Galaxy responded quickly. Just minutes after Klauss's goal, Marco Reus set up Gabriel Pec who scored the equalizer.

The match between St. Louis City SC and the LA Galaxy marks the sixth all-time MLS Regular Season meeting between the two clubs. Entering the match, the Galaxy trailed the series 0-2-3 (7 GF, 11 GA). The last time the Galaxy and St. Louis met at Energizer Park, LA fell 2-1 to CITY SC on Sept. 21, 2024.

St. Louis City SC entered the game with a new head coach, David Critchley, who took over a month ago.

Despite the Galaxy's struggles, they boast a slightly better offense than St. Louis City SC. Before the game, the Galaxy had scored 15 goals compared to St. Louis's 14. However, St. Louis has four players with multiple goals this season: Cedric Teuchert (3), Marcel Hartel (2), Joao Klauss (2), and Eduard Lowen (2). Marco Reus, the Galaxy's Player of the Month for May, has four assists and three goals.

The match between St. Louis City SC and the LA Galaxy is available on MLS Season Pass, FOX, and FOX Deportes.
