Soccer Aid 2025 delivered a thrilling match at Old Trafford, with the World XI defeating England 5-4 in a dramatic comeback. More importantly, the event raised a staggering £15,280,163 for UNICEF. This brings the total amount raised by Soccer Aid since its inception in 2006 to over £121 million, helping UNICEF's work supporting children worldwide. Every donation made this year, up to £5 million, was doubled thanks to the Children's Investment Fund Foundation.

The game itself was a rollercoaster. England initially took a commanding lead, with Wayne Rooney marking his return to Old Trafford with an early goal. Toni Duggan added another before halftime, and Jermain Defoe extended the lead shortly after the break. It seemed England, managed by a star-studded team including Tyson Fury, Harry Redknapp, and Robbie Williams, were on their way to victory.

However, Carlos Tevez had other plans. Coming on as a substitute at halftime, the Argentinian veteran turned the game on its head, scoring four goals in quick succession to level the score. Defoe managed to score his second goal in between Tevez's strikes, becoming the leading scorer in Soccer Aid history. With the match heading towards a draw, television presenter and musician Big Zuu scored a dramatic late winner for the World XI, securing their victory and sparking wild celebrations.

The World XI's win extends their lead in the head-to-head record against England to 8-6. The match was broadcast live on ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player, reaching millions of viewers who contributed to the impressive fundraising total.

Beyond the exciting match, Soccer Aid serves a vital purpose: raising money and awareness for UNICEF's work. The funds raised will help UNICEF provide safe spaces for children in crisis, deliver vital vaccinations and nutrition support, and ensure access to education. As Robbie Williams, the creator of Soccer Aid, said, the event brings people together with the goal of helping children grow up safe, healthy, and able to play.

This year's Soccer Aid also highlighted individual fundraising efforts. Sam Thompson, completed the final stage of his Match Ball Mission, delivering the match ball to the pitch. His efforts alone raised over £2 million.

Soccer Aid continues to be a significant event, blending entertainment with philanthropy. The dedication of the celebrities and former professionals involved, combined with the generosity of the public, makes a tangible difference in the lives of children around the world. The event at Old Trafford was a testament to the power of football and community spirit, all in aid of a crucial cause.
