Mumbai City FC has announced the signing of young midfielder Zothanpuia on a three-year deal, bolstering their squad ahead of the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season. The 20-year-old joins the Islanders from Aizawl FC, adding fresh energy and depth to their midfield options. The contract will keep Zothanpuia with Mumbai City FC until the end of the 2027-28 season.
Zothanpuia, fondly known as 'Puipuia', expressed his excitement about joining the club, stating, "I am thrilled to join Mumbai City. Born on April 7, 2005, Zothanpuia began his professional football career with Electric Veng FC in Mizoram in 2022. He then featured for Oranje FC in the I-League 2 during the 2023-24 season. His journey continued with Southern Samity in the 2024 Calcutta League, before joining Aizawl FC for their I-League campaign in the 2024-25 season. In his 20 appearances for Aizawl FC, Zothanpuia scored three goals and provided two assists, showcasing his potential in the attacking midfield role.
