In an unprecedented turn of events, the T20I match between the Netherlands and Nepal in Glasgow on Monday, June 16, 2025, etched its name in cricket history by becoming the first men's professional match to be decided after not one, not two, but three Super Overs. This thrilling encounter, part of the Scotland T20I Tri-Series, saw the Netherlands emerge victorious after a rollercoaster of emotions and exceptional performances from both sides.

The match began with the Netherlands setting a target of 153, posting 152 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Nepal, in response, found themselves needing 16 runs off the final over to win. Nandan Yadav's heroics with the bat, scoring two crucial boundaries, including one off the last ball, leveled the scores and forced the game into its first Super Over.

Nepal batted first in the initial Super Over, with Kushal Bhurtel unleashing a barrage of boundaries, including two sixes and a four, against Daniel Doram to set a daunting target of 20 runs. The Netherlands responded in kind, with Max O'Dowd replicating Bhurtel's feat, smashing two sixes and a four to tie the Super Over and send the game into its second tie-breaker.

The Netherlands batted first in the second Super Over, managing to score 17 runs. Once again, Nepal refused to back down. With seven runs needed off the final ball, Dipendra Singh Airee rose to the occasion, hitting a magnificent six over cow corner to level the scores, leading to the never-before-seen third Super Over.

However, the drama of the previous Super Overs was not to be repeated in the third. Nepal faltered, losing both their wickets without managing to score a single run, thanks to the exceptional bowling of Zach Lion-Cachet. With just one run needed to win, Michael Levitt sealed the victory for the Netherlands, hitting a six off Sandeep Lamichhane's first ball, bringing an end to the historic contest.

Zach Lion-Cachet was named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance in the final Super Over, claiming two wickets without conceding a run. The match was a memorable one for Nepal as well, marking their 100th T20I. The game saw several impressive performances, with Kushal Bhurtel, Max O'Dowd, and Dipendra Singh Airee contributing significantly with the bat, while Daniel Doram and Sandeep Lamichhane shone with the ball.

This unprecedented triple Super Over encounter between the Netherlands and Nepal will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most thrilling and historic matches in cricket history. It showcased the resilience, determination, and exceptional skills of both teams, providing fans with an unforgettable spectacle.
