The highly anticipated India vs. England Test series is just around the corner, and one of the biggest questions surrounding the Indian team is which matches their pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, will play. With concerns about his workload management and a history of back injuries, the team management is keen on carefully utilizing Bumrah's skills throughout the five-match series.

Bumrah's importance to the Indian team cannot be overstated. He was the highest wicket-taker in the recent series against Australia, claiming 32 wickets, even though he had to leave the final Test due to a back issue. Given this, it came as no surprise when reports emerged that Bumrah had communicated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he wouldn't be able to endure the strain of playing all five Tests in England.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has since confirmed that Bumrah will not be available for all five Tests, with the decision on whether he plays three or four Tests depending on how the series progresses and how his body copes with the workload. Head coach Gautam Gambhir echoed this sentiment, stating that the team is yet to decide which three Tests Bumrah will participate in. Gambhir mentioned that the decision will be made after discussions with Bumrah, taking into account the unfolding of the series.

So, which three Tests is Bumrah most likely to play? While the final decision rests with the team management, several factors could influence their choice. Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg has suggested that Bumrah should be rested for the first Test, and then be utilized for the subsequent two matches.

Adding to the speculation, former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta has pinpointed the first Test at Headingley, Leeds, as one that Bumrah will "definitely" play. Dasgupta highlighted the seamer-friendly conditions historically found at Headingley as a key reason for Bumrah's likely inclusion in that match. He also noted the longish breaks between Test matches, which could aid in managing Bumrah's workload effectively.

The remaining Tests are scheduled to be held at Edgbaston, Lord's, Old Trafford and Kennington Oval. With the first Test fast approaching, fans and analysts alike will be keenly awaiting the team management's decision on Jasprit Bumrah's participation. The outcome of this decision could significantly impact India's chances of securing their first Test series win on English soil since 2007.
