The incident, which featured Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Rahul Tripathi, unfolded during the first qualifier game and involved a series of fielding mishaps, a collision between batsmen, and a bizarre overthrow.

The sequence began when Raigad Royals' Vicky Ostwal hit a shot towards the cover region and attempted to take two quick runs with his partner Siddhesh Veer. As the two focused on the ball, they collided heavily mid-pitch, sending both crashing to the ground. This presented a golden opportunity for the Kolhapur Tuskers to run Ostwal out.

However, what followed was a series of blunders. The fielder in the deep threw the ball to the wicketkeeper, who, instead of simply whipping off the bails with ample time, inexplicably under-armed the ball to the bowler, Atman Pore, who wasn't expecting it and fumbled the ball. Seeing another chance to dismiss Ostwal, Kolhapur's Rahul Tripathi sprinted towards the bowler's end to attempt a run-out. However, he noticed the wicketkeeper was out of position. Tripathi then charged towards the striker's end, ball in hand, in a bid to run out a scrambling Ostwal. In his haste, Tripathi hurled the ball at the stumps but missed, resulting in an overthrow that raced to the boundary, adding four runs to the Raigad Royals' score.

The entire sequence, from the initial collision to the errant throw, has been described as a "comedy of errors" and a "farce." Commentators were left in disbelief, and the video quickly went viral, with fans expressing their astonishment at the series of mishaps. One fan even joked that every player involved should retire immediately.

Despite the chaotic situation, Vicky Ostwal capitalized on the multiple lifelines he was granted. He went on to play a crucial innings, scoring 74 runs off 54 balls and guiding the Raigad Royals to a thrilling six-wicket victory. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award and secured his team's place in Qualifier 2 against Puneri Bappa.

While the Kolhapur Tuskers rued their missed opportunities, the incident has become one of the most talked-about moments of the MPL 2025. The game was played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
