The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) concluded their 2025 Gold Cup group stage campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Haiti at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This win secured a perfect record for the USMNT in Group D, marking only the third time in the nation's history that they have achieved three wins in the group stage of the Gold Cup.

The match began with early dominance from the United States. Malik Tillman, continuing his impressive form in the tournament, put the USMNT ahead with a header inside the first 10 minutes. Brenden Aaronson delivered a great ball that allowed Tillman to get enough power on the header, sending it far post past Haiti's goalkeeper, Johnny Placide.

Haiti, desperate for a win to keep their hopes of advancing alive, found an equalizer in the first half due to an unforced error by USMNT goalkeeper Matt Freese. A misplayed pass was intercepted by Louicius Don Deedson, who slotted the ball into the back of the net, leveling the score and injecting life into the Haitian side.

The second half saw the USMNT regain the lead courtesy of Patrick Agyemang. Agyemang's goal ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides.

The victory means the USMNT won Group D and secured their place in the quarterfinals. The USMNT will now await the results of Group A to determine their opponent, which will be the second-place team from that group. Potential opponents include Costa Rica or Mexico. Meanwhile, with the defeat, Haiti's Gold Cup journey comes to an end, along with Trinidad and Tobago. Saudi Arabia secured the second qualifying spot from Group D.

Throughout the match, both teams had their moments. Matt Freese, despite his earlier error, made a crucial save in the 64th minute, punching away a dangerous free-kick from Carnejy Antoine. The USMNT also had opportunities to extend their lead, with Quinn Sullivan being a constant threat down the right flank.

The USMNT's starting lineup against Haiti featured a mix of experienced players and fresh faces. Tim Ream captained the side, while players like Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson made their first Gold Cup starts. Defender Alex Freeman became only the second USMNT player under 21 to start all three group stage matches, mirroring a feat last achieved by Chris Henderson in 1991.

Looking ahead, the USMNT will aim to carry their momentum into the knockout stages. The quarterfinals are scheduled for June 28-29, with the semifinals on July 2 and the final set for July 6 in Houston, Texas. As one of the tournament favorites, the USMNT will be eager to add another Gold Cup title to their trophy cabinet.
