The UEFA Women's Euro 2025 is fast approaching, and while defending champions England harbor hopes of retaining their title, Spain is entering the tournament as the bookmakers' favorite. The tournament is scheduled to kick off in Switzerland on July 2, 2025.

Spain's ascent to the top of the women's game has been remarkable. They are the reigning world champions and also secured the Nations League title. This impressive run has made them the team to beat, with odds of around 2/1 to lift the Euro 2025 trophy. Spain's squad boasts world-class talent, including Ballon d'Or winners Aitana Bonmatí and Alexia Putellas. Their experience and skill make them a formidable force. They finished top of their Euro 2025 qualifying group, winning five of their six games. They are in Group B alongside Portugal, Belgium, and Italy, and are expected to advance without much difficulty.

England, however, will not relinquish their crown without a fight. The Lionesses, who secured their first major title since the men's 1966 World Cup triumph at the last Euros, are second favorites at around 4/1. While they are still considered one of the best teams, some argue that they appear vulnerable. The team has seen some changes since their Euro 2022 victory, with retirements and withdrawals affecting the squad. England are in a challenging Group D with France, Netherlands and Wales. Their recent form has been inconsistent, but they have shown they can deliver big results when needed, like their Nations League victory against Spain. Sarina Wiegman's leadership is seen as a key asset.

Germany and France are also in contention, with both teams listed at 5/1 odds. Germany, the most successful team in the history of the competition with eight titles, are always a threat. France, despite having a strong squad, has often underperformed in major tournaments. Other teams to watch include the Netherlands and Sweden.

The tournament will begin with a group stage, where the top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals. From there, it will be a straight knockout competition to the final. The final is scheduled to take place on July 27 at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.

While Spain enters as the favorite, England's experience and determination, combined with the unpredictability of tournament football, means that the Lionesses cannot be counted out. Germany's history and France's potential also add to the excitement, making Women's Euro 2025 a highly anticipated event.
