A current West Indies cricketer is facing serious allegations of sexual assault and rape, with at least 11 women coming forward with accusations. The allegations, which include accounts of sexual assault, rape, and unwanted sexual advances, were initially reported by Guyanese news outlet Kaieteur News and later amplified by SportsMax TV.

The cricketer in question, who remains unnamed in most reports, is reportedly from Guyana and was part of the West Indies team that won a Test match against Australia in 2024, receiving a "hero's welcome" upon his return. The accusations have surfaced while the West Indies team is engaged in a three-Test series against Australia, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.

According to Kaieteur News, at least eleven women, including a teenager, have accused the cricketer of sexual misconduct. The newspaper's report, titled "Monster in Maroon," suggests a possible cover-up to protect the player. SportsMax TV reports that several victims believe the matter has been deliberately suppressed, potentially with the involvement of influential figures in cricket administration.

Nigel Hughes, a lawyer representing the family of one of the alleged victims, stated that a complaint was filed two years ago, and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Guyana recommended charges. However, these recommendations were allegedly ignored or delayed. Hughes also mentioned that his firm was first contacted about the case two years prior, and despite recent inquiries, they have been unable to obtain any significant information regarding their client's complaint.

Kaieteur News detailed an incident involving a 24-year-old woman referred to as Jane Doe to protect her identity. Jane Doe claims she agreed to a date with the cricketer, but the evening ended traumatically near her home. She presented evidence, including photos of injuries and messages purportedly from the player expressing remorse and offering compensation, which she refused. The messages allegedly showed the cricketer apologizing for his actions and requesting that the matter remain private.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has been contacted for comment but has not yet issued an official statement. CWI President Kishore Shallow stated that the organization is "unaware of the circumstances and, therefore, is not in a position to comment at this time." SportsMax TV reached out to Cricket West Indies, inquiring about their awareness of the matter, any ongoing investigation, and potential cover-up attempts, but has received no further response.

The allegations have sparked outrage and concern, with many calling for a thorough and transparent investigation. Social media has been abuzz with reactions, with users urging Cricket West Indies to take swift and decisive action. The hashtag #MonsterinMaroon has also been used to raise awareness about the issue. The allegations could have serious legal and reputational consequences for the cricketer and the West Indies cricket team. The unfolding situation is being closely monitored by local and regional media, as well as cricket authorities, as more details emerge.
