Nitish Kumar Reddy, the young Indian all-rounder, had a moment of forgetfulness ahead of the second Test against England. As the team was departing from Leeds to Birmingham, where the second Test will be held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground starting July 2nd, Reddy realized he had left an item at the team hotel.

The incident occurred after the conclusion of the first Test at Headingley, where India suffered a five-wicket defeat against England, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Reddy did not feature in the playing XI for the first Test, with the team management preferring Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja as the all-rounders.

As the Indian squad was leaving for Birmingham to begin preparations for the crucial second Test, Reddy was spotted deboarding the team bus to retrieve the forgotten item before rejoining his teammates. After a short while, he returned to the bus and was seen chatting with the security head of the Indian team.

This incident has drawn comparisons to Rohit Sharma, who is known for his tendency to forget items at team hotels. Virat Kohli had previously shared anecdotes about Sharma forgetting items like his iPad, wallet, and phone in hotels and other places. Dinesh Karthik also recounted an instance where Sharma forgot his passport before a tour to England in 2018. Ajinkya Rahane once revealed that Sharma had forgotten his wedding ring in a team hotel.

The Indian team is currently trailing 0-1 in the five-match series and will be looking to bounce back in the second Test at Edgbaston. The composition of the playing XI is under discussion, particularly the fast-bowling resources in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised concerns about the lack of depth in the pace attack and the need to prepare the next generation of Indian fast bowlers.

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised regarding Shubman Gill's captaincy after the loss against England. Gautam Gambhir, the India head coach, defended Gill's decision-making regarding Shardul Thakur's role in the first Test. Shardul Thakur's performance in the first Test has led to questions about his place in the team for the second Test in Birmingham.

In other cricket-related news, a cricket ground in England, Dawson Memorial Field in Danbury, has been closed indefinitely after a person was hit by a ball in the car park. The Danbury Parish Council made the decision due to public safety concerns.
