Jeremy Doku is feeling confident that Manchester City fans are witnessing an improved version of himself, especially after an electrifying performance in the Club World Cup. The Belgian winger played a key role in Manchester City's dominant 5-2 victory over Juventus on Thursday, scoring the opening goal in the process.

Doku's performance against Juventus showcased his sharp and exciting style, contributing to a team that seems to have rediscovered its form with the introduction of new players. While acknowledging that it's just one game, Doku believes the team is starting to resemble the all-conquering squad of previous years, a stark contrast to their struggles during much of the 2024-25 season.

“Obviously it was a good game, we won and we were together from the start to the end and we scored some nice goals. We finished top of the group and we are happy". Doku remains grounded, emphasizing a game-by-game approach. He acknowledges the team is showing glimpses of their former selves and aims to maintain this level of performance consistently.

Doku attributes his improved form to feeling "free" and enjoying his football. While recognizing areas for further improvement, he believes that playing with freedom, a clear mind, and the coach's trust allows him to showcase a better version of himself. According to Doku, "I can still improve on certain aspects but when I play free and with the right mind, with the trust of the coach obviously, then you see a better version of me and now you are seeing a glimpse of it".

When asked about the source of his on-pitch freedom, Doku highlighted the importance of his faith. "I think it's more to do with my faith, I'm more occupied with my faith and I just give all the glory to my Lord and our saviour Jesus Christ,” he explained.

Following their impressive win against Juventus in Orlando, City has secured a spot in the next round of the Club World Cup. This victory has not only propelled them forward in the competition but has also fueled optimism that they are rediscovering their best form.

Doku's development has been evident, with his end product becoming more consistent. He provided an assist for Erling Haaland's winning goal against Tottenham and his overall game is developing. If he can maintain his fitness, Doku has the potential to become one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League.
