The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly calling up Anthony Seigler from Triple-A Nashville. The news was first reported by Francys Romero, a member of the Baseball Writers of American Association. Seigler, a versatile player who can play catcher, second base, and third base, is expected to join the Brewers as they head out east for a six-game road trip.

Seigler signed a minor league contract with Milwaukee ahead of the 2025 season. With Triple-A Nashville, he is batting .278/.416/.469 with seven home runs, 35 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases. At Nashville, he has played 24 games at second base, 22 at catcher, 11 at third base, and five as a designated hitter.

Seigler was drafted by the New York Yankees as a catcher in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2018 MLB Draft. However, he never advanced past their Double-A level. In 2024, he transitioned to second base full time and slashed .234/.350/.398 with 12 home runs, 49 RBI, and 29 stolen bases. The Brewers signed him as a minor league free agent this offseason and moved the 25-year-old back behind the plate, but have also recently added third base to his position grouping.

Seigler's versatility and switch-hitting ability make him a valuable asset to the Brewers. His ability to play multiple positions could provide manager Pat Murphy with flexibility in lineup construction and late-game situations.

It is possible that Seigler is going to either start over Eric Haase or back him up at catcher. All-Star William Contreras has been playing through a fractured finger in his left hand, which has affected his swing. June was Contreras' worst month of the year, as he hit just .228/.344/.328 with a home run and eight RBI in 22 games.
