The Vegas Golden Knights have traded defenseman Nicolas Hague to the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenseman Jeremy Lauzon and forward Colton Sissons. The trade, executed ahead of the NHL's free agency signing period, also includes a four-year, $22 million contract extension for Hague with the Predators. This extension carries an average annual value (AAV) of $5.5 million.

Hague, 26, has spent his entire NHL career with the Golden Knights after being drafted 34th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft. The Kitchener, Ontario, native recorded 5 goals and 7 assists in 68 games last season, adding 2 assists in 11 playoff games. Over his 364 career NHL games, Hague has accumulated 83 points (20 goals and 63 assists). He was also a member of the Golden Knights' Stanley Cup-winning team in 2023. At 6-foot-6, Hague is known as a hard-hitting, defensive-minded player.

The Predators, in acquiring Hague, are retooling their lineup after missing the playoffs for the second time in three years.

Going to Vegas are Jeremy Lauzon and Colton Sissons. Lauzon, 28, played in 28 games this past season, recording one assist. He missed a significant portion of the 2024-2025 season due to a lower-body injury sustained on December 31st. The Val-d'Or, Quebec, native has 45 points (14 goals and 31 assists) in 316 career NHL games, split between the Predators, Seattle Kraken, and Boston Bruins. Lauzon carries a $2 million cap hit.

Sissons, 31, is also leaving the only NHL team he has ever played for. Drafted 50th overall by the Predators in 2012, the North Vancouver, British Columbia, native had 21 points (7 goals and 14 assists) in 72 games last season. In his 690 career NHL games, Sissons has recorded 221 points (95 goals and 126 assists). He has one year remaining on his seven-year contract and represents a $2.86 million cap hit.

The Golden Knights, by making this trade, create salary cap flexibility. This move potentially positions them to pursue high-profile free agents such as Mitch Marner.
