The India tour of Bangladesh in August 2025, featuring three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), is currently facing uncertainty as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to confirm their participation. While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the fixtures for the tour as part of their 2025 home international season, the lack of official confirmation from the BCCI has cast a shadow over the series.
The tour is scheduled to begin on August 17 with the ODI series, with the first two matches to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The third ODI is slated to take place in Chattogram. Following the ODI series, the T20I series will commence on August 26 at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram, before returning to Dhaka for the final two T20Is. This series marks the first-ever bilateral T20I series between Bangladesh and India to be held in Bangladesh.
According to reports, discussions between the two boards are still ongoing. While the exact reasons for the delay in confirmation are unclear, it is understood that scheduling conflicts and logistical challenges might be contributing factors. The BCCI is also considering the workload of the Indian players, especially with the T20 World Cup approaching in 2026, and wants to ensure adequate rest and preparation for the team.
Despite the uncertainty, the BCB remains optimistic about the series. BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury has expressed his excitement about the tour, highlighting the competitive matches between the two sides in recent years. He anticipates that the series will be highly entertaining and enjoyed by cricket fans in both countries.
The last T20I series between Bangladesh and India was in 2024, when India toured Bangladesh and won the series 3-0. In the last ODI series in 2022, India toured Bangladesh and lost the series 2-1.
