The Tuesday night game between the San Diego Padres and the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park has been postponed due to inclement weather in Philadelphia and the surrounding region. The game, originally scheduled for 6:15 p.m. ET, will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday, July 2.

The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET, and the second game will be played at 6:15 p.m. ET. Fans holding tickets for Tuesday night's game can use them for the second game of the doubleheader on Wednesday night. The Phillies have also announced that the postgame fireworks display, initially planned for Tuesday, will now take place after the second game on Wednesday.

Due to the doubleheader, the Phillies have canceled the Nemours Children's Health Kids Run the Bases promotion, which was initially scheduled for the 1:05 p.m. game.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Philadelphia area until 9 p.m. ET, along with a flash flood watch. A NEXT Weather Alert is also in effect for the region due to the threat of severe weather.

Before the postponement, Nick Pivetta was slated to pitch for the Padres, aiming to break a two-game losing streak for the team, which currently holds a 45-39 record. The Phillies have a 50-35 record and boast the third-best record in Major League Baseball.

The Phillies won the series opener on Monday night, with Zack Wheeler delivering an outstanding performance, striking out 10 Padres in eight shutout innings in a 4-0 victory. Bryce Harper returned to the Phillies' lineup after being sidelined for over 20 games with a right wrist injury, going 0 for 2 with a walk. Harper said his wrist felt "way better" before the game.

The Padres are currently one game out of the final National League Wild Card spot. Manny Machado has been a key factor in the Padres' success this season, currently tied for second in the National League with 94 hits and boasting a slash line of .293/.354/.477 with an .831 OPS.
