Despite Hong Kong's ambition to become Asia's events capital and the Brazilian deputy consul-general's hope that the national team would play in the city, it seems unlikely that Brazil's national football team will be visiting Hong Kong in the near future.

Eric Fok Kai-shan, the chairman of the Football Association of Hong Kong, China (HKFA), has stated that while there are developments in Hong Kong football, a visit from the Brazilian national team is not on the horizon. Fok's statement suggests that the focus is currently on local and regional football development rather than hosting high-profile international matches.

Hong Kong has expressed interest in hosting Brazil's national football team at the Kai Tak Stadium. Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po highlighted this aspiration at the opening ceremony of "Extravaganza! When Brazil Meets Hong Kong". He emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening Hong Kong's role as Asia's events capital and mentioned the slew of events planned for the Kai Tak Stadium, expressing hope that they could host the Brazilian national team sometime soon. The "Extravaganza! When Brazil Meets Hong Kong," a three-day cultural festival featuring Brazilian dancers, footballers, food, and drinks, aimed to deepen cross-cultural connections and promote Hong Kong as a premier events destination.

Historically, there has been one notable match between Brazil and Hong Kong's national football teams on February 9, 2005. Brazil won 7-1. Although a friendly match took place in 2005, there is no official head-to-head record of games between Brazil and Hong Kong.

While the Financial Secretary expressed a desire to host the Brazilian national team in the future, the chairman of the HKFA has indicated that such a visit is not imminent. The focus appears to be on developing local football and participating in regional competitions. Hong Kong will compete in the 2025 Asia Men's Rugby Championship, seeking to qualify for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
