England's cricket team is facing a significant setback as their captain, Ben Stokes, has been ruled out of the crucial fifth and final Test against India due to a right shoulder injury. The absence of the inspirational all-rounder, who has been in tremendous form, is a major blow to England's chances of securing a series-clinching victory. In Stokes' stead, the promising young talent Jacob Bethell is set to step into the spotlight, while Ollie Pope will assume the captaincy for the first time in his Test career.

Stokes' injury woes stem from the grueling nature of the series against India, where he has bowled a considerable number of overs. In the fourth Test, he was seen clutching his shoulder, a clear indication of the discomfort he was experiencing. Stokes revealed that scans showed he had a tear in one of the muscles in his shoulder. He admitted that the risk of further damage was too high, especially with the Ashes series on the horizon. Stokes expects to be sidelined for six to seven weeks.

Ollie Pope, who usually bats at No. 3, will take over the captaincy. This presents a golden opportunity for the Surrey batsman to showcase his leadership skills on his home ground.

The inclusion of Jacob Bethell in the playing XI has generated considerable excitement. The young all-rounder, who bats at No. 6, made a positive impression during his debut tour in New Zealand. Bethell's part-time spin bowling also offers England a valuable option in the absence of a specialist spinner.

England have made four changes to their squad for the series finale. Alongside Stokes, Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse are also missing out. Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, and Josh Tongue have been drafted into the side. England will go into the match with four fast bowlers and rely on Joe Root and Bethell for spin duties. Liam Dawson is also left out.

The fifth Test at The Oval promises to be an enthralling contest. England lead the series 2-1 and will be keen to capitalize on their advantage. India, on the other hand, will be determined to level the series. With a reshuffled pack, England will look to their new captain and the fresh energy of Jacob Bethell to guide them to victory.
