Everton's pursuit of Southampton's young talent, Tyler Dibling, has hit a snag as the Saints rejected an initial bid of £27 million. The Toffees are eager to bolster their attacking options, particularly on the right wing, and Dibling has emerged as a prime target. However, Southampton are holding firm, seeking a fee closer to £40 million for the 19-year-old.
Dibling's impressive performances last season have attracted attention from several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham, Fulham and West Ham, as well as RB Leipzig. Despite the widespread interest, Everton are reportedly keen on securing his services and are considering an improved offer of around £35 million.
Everton's need for a right-sided attacker is evident, with David Moyes having limited options in that position. The departures of Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison after their loan spells have left a void in the squad. Dibling is viewed as a player with a "unique, fearless talent" who could provide the creativity and attacking threat that Everton desperately need.
Southampton, however, are reluctant to let go of one of their prized academy graduates. Dibling made 38 appearances for the Saints last season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists. While they had previously valued him at a staggering £100 million, they are now believed to be more realistic, with a £40 million offer potentially enough to seal the deal. The club has already sanctioned the sales of Paul Onuachu, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Jan Bednarek this summer, and Aaron Ramsdale is also set to join Newcastle.
Dibling has two years remaining on his contract at St Mary's. He is reportedly open to a move to Everton, believing it would provide him with the opportunity to continue his development. Despite his limited experience at the Premier League level, Dibling has demonstrated his potential and is considered a player with a high ceiling.
Everton have already made four additions to their squad this summer, with Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou, Mark Travers and Carlos Alcaraz. However, a specialized right winger remains a priority, and Dibling fits the bill perfectly. The Toffees are hoping to reach an agreement with Southampton soon to secure the services of the talented teenager.
