Dream11, the fantasy sports platform, is reportedly backing out as the title sponsor for the Indian men's cricket team just before the Asia Cup 2025. Sources indicate that this decision follows the passing of the 'Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025' in the Indian Parliament, which bans real money gaming platforms.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Dream11 have not officially commented on the matter. However, speculation is growing that the fantasy sports platform is reconsidering its sponsorship in light of the new regulations. According to reports, there is a strong possibility that Dream11 will not be the title sponsor for the team led by Suryakumar Yadav during the upcoming continental tournament.

BCCI officials have stated that they will adhere to the laws of the country. The BCCI is reportedly preparing to invite new bids for jersey sponsorship rights. If a new sponsor is not secured before the Asia Cup 2025 begins in September, the Indian team might participate in the tournament without a title sponsor.

Dream11 initially collaborated with the BCCI in 2023, signing a deal valued at ₹358 crore. This agreement included ₹3 crore per home match and ₹1 crore for away matches.

The new legislation has led Dream11 to suspend all paid contests and shift towards free-to-play formats. The company plans to focus on its other ventures, including DreamSetGo, FanCode, and Dream Game Studios. However, the future of its sponsorship with the Indian cricket team remains uncertain.

Several brands are being considered as potential replacements for Dream11. Among the leading contenders are the Tata Group, which already sponsors the Indian Premier League (IPL) until 2028, Reliance Jio, and Mahindra & Mahindra. FMCG giants like Pepsi and fintech platforms such as Zerodha and Groww are also possibilities.

The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to begin on September 9 and conclude on September 28, with matches held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The BCCI has already announced a 15-member team for the tournament, along with a list of reserve players.

In light of these developments, there is a possibility that the Indian team will play in the Asia Cup 2025 without a jersey sponsor. The BCCI may prefer to go without a sponsor rather than accept a short-term deal that doesn't align with the stature of Indian cricket.

Other sponsors for the Asia Cup 2025 include DP World, Wonder Cement, Royal Stag, BYD, and Groww. Sony Sports Network will handle television broadcasts in India, while SonyLIV will provide digital streaming. TCM Sports Management has also secured a contract with the Asian Cricket Council to sponsor the Asia Cup from 2025 to 2031.
