Portugal is heading to the UEFA Nations League final after a thrilling 2-1 victory against Germany, fueled by a Cristiano Ronaldo goal. The match, held in Munich, saw Portugal come from behind to secure their place in the final, where they will aim to win the competition for the second time.

The game began with both teams displaying attacking intent. Cristiano Ronaldo, playing in his 220th international match, was eager to make an impact. In the 6th minute, Ronaldo almost opened the scoring, but his shot was saved by German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Germany responded with debutant Nick Woltemade, whose low shot was stopped by Portuguese keeper Diogo Costa. The first half concluded without a goal, setting the stage for a dramatic second half.

Germany took the lead early in the second half when Florian Wirtz headed in a cross from Joshua Kimmich in the 48th minute. Wirtz, a Liverpool target, guided his header into the bottom right corner, giving Germany a 1-0 advantage.

Portugal coach Roberto Martínez then made crucial substitutions, bringing on Francisco Conceição and Champions League winner Vitinha. The changes paid off quickly. In the 63rd minute, Francisco Conceição, who replaced Francisco Trincao, unleashed a curling strike from outside the box, leveling the score at 1-1.

Just five minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo scored what would be the winning goal. Nuno Mendes made a run down the left side and selflessly passed the ball to Ronaldo, who tapped it into the net for his record-extending 137th international goal. This goal not only secured the lead for Portugal but also marked Ronaldo's first goal against Germany after losing his previous five encounters against them. At 40 years old, Ronaldo also became the oldest player to ever score against Germany.

Germany tried to find an equalizer, with Karim Adeyemi hitting the post. Portugal's goalkeeper, Diogo Costa, made important saves to deny Germany's comeback attempts. Ter Stegen also made stunning saves to prevent Portugal from extending their lead, denying Francisco Conceição and Diogo Jota.

Portugal's victory marked their first win in Germany in 25 years. The team will now face the winner of the other semi-final between France and Spain in the Nations League final. Germany will play the loser of that match in the third-place playoff.

The match was intense, with several yellow cards being issued. Nuno Mendes was named the standout player for his contribution to the winning goal. The final is scheduled for Sunday, where Portugal will aim to become the first team to win the UEFA Nations League twice, having won the inaugural edition in 2019.
