Kylian Mbappe has addressed Paris Saint-Germain's recent Champions League triumph, asserting that he harbors no bitterness despite leaving the club less than a year prior to their victory. In a press conference held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, ahead of France's Nations League third-place match against Germany, Mbappe stated that he had "reached the end of the road" with PSG and that his departure was timed correctly.

Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid in July 2024 after his contract with PSG expired, emphasized that he did not leave "too soon." He explained, "My story with PSG was over." The French captain, who holds the record for the most goals scored for PSG with 256, conveyed his happiness for his former team, acknowledging their years of struggle and emphasizing their deserving victory. "I tried everything, and it was destiny that meant it had to happen without me," Mbappe commented.

PSG secured their first-ever Champions League title on May 31, 2025, with a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan. This win occurred a year after Mbappe's departure, adding intrigue to his perspective on the club's success. Reflecting on the match, Mbappe expressed his admiration for PSG's performance, stating, "They're the best team in Europe. I don't remember seeing a team win 5-0 in a major final."

During his seven seasons with PSG, Mbappe came close to Champions League glory but fell short, most notably in 2020 when they lost the final to Bayern Munich. His move to Real Madrid was largely motivated by his ambition to win the coveted European title. However, Real Madrid's 2024-25 Champions League campaign ended in the quarter-finals with a defeat to Arsenal, and the club concluded the season without any major trophies. Despite this, Mbappe secured the European Golden Shoe after scoring 31 La Liga goals.

Mbappe's sentiments echo his previous statements where he expressed gratitude towards PSG and its fans. Upon his departure in May 2024, he released a video message thanking the club and its supporters, acknowledging the "honour" of being a part of "the biggest club in France." He highlighted his growth as a player and a person during his time in Paris. He also admitted the difficulty in leaving his home country but expressed his need for a "new challenge."

While Mbappe is focused on achieving Champions League success with Real Madrid, he maintains a positive outlook on his past with PSG and their recent triumph. His comments underscore a sense of closure and acceptance regarding his departure, further solidifying his intent to forge a new chapter in his career with the Spanish giants.
