Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to appoint Thomas Frank as their new head coach, having reached an agreement with Brentford. The move comes swiftly after the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, just 16 days after he led the club to a Europa League title, their first major trophy in 17 years.

Spurs wasted no time in identifying Frank as their primary target and made an official approach to Brentford early in the week. Discussions between the two clubs have been ongoing, focusing on Frank's existing contract, which runs until the summer of 2027 and includes a release clause believed to be around £10 million. Finalizing the backroom staff that Frank would bring to Tottenham required additional discussion; however, a deal was agreed upon on Thursday. Justin Cochrane, a highly regarded first-team coach at Brentford, will be joining Frank at Tottenham. Cochrane's move marks a return to Spurs, where he began his coaching career.

The appointment of Frank comes after Tottenham finished a disappointing 17th in the Premier League, despite their Europa League success. Meanwhile, Brentford finished 10th in the Premier League, 7 places and 18 points above Tottenham. Frank has been in charge of Brentford since October 2018, guiding them to the Premier League in 2021 and establishing them as a competitive top-flight club on a limited budget.

One of the initial challenges for Frank at Tottenham will be addressing the future of captain Son Heung-min, who has one year remaining on his contract. Micky van de Ven, the Spurs defender, described Postecoglou's dismissal as a "strange" decision, especially considering the recent trophy win.

Thomas Frank's potential arrival has sparked discussions about Tottenham's transfer priorities. With Frank likely to implement his own football philosophy, key areas for strengthening the squad include full-back and center-back positions. The need for a new center-back arises due to speculation surrounding Cristian Romero, while reinforcements at full-back are considered essential for providing depth and competition.

Frank's track record of developing players could prove to be a significant asset for Tottenham. Data analysis reveals that Frank has consistently improved players' market values during his tenure at Brentford, showcasing his ability to maximize talent both in young and experienced players. This aligns with Tottenham's need to enhance their squad and ensure their recent 17th-place finish remains an anomaly.
