Logan Stankoven, the 22-year-old forward, has signed an eight-year, $48 million contract extension with the Carolina Hurricanes. The deal, which carries an average annual value of $6 million, will commence with the 2026-27 season.

"From the moment he arrived in Raleigh, it was clear to us that Logan was a Hurricane," said Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky. "We're thrilled that he agrees and is committed to being a big part of this organization long term".

Stankoven, a native of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the second round (47th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Hurricanes on March 7, 2025, in a trade that sent forward Mikko Rantanen to Dallas. In addition to Stankoven, the Hurricanes received first-round picks in 2026 and 2028, and third-round picks in 2026 and 2027.

During the 2024-25 season, Stankoven split time between the Stars and the Hurricanes, registering a total of 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) in 78 regular-season games. He also tied for second among NHL rookie skaters in game-winning goals with five. After being traded to Carolina, Stankoven recorded nine points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 19 regular-season games. In the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he added eight points (5 goals, 3 assists) in 15 appearances.

Prior to joining the professional ranks, Stankoven played parts of five seasons with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL), amassing 260 points (115 goals, 145 assists) in 179 games. In 2022, he was named WHL and Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Player of the Year after recording 104 points (45 goals, 59 assists) in 59 games. He also represented Canada in several international competitions, securing a gold medal at the 2021 IIHF World U18 Championship and participating in the 2022 and 2023 IIHF World U20 Championships.

Stankoven's professional career began in 2023-24 with the Texas Stars, Dallas' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. That year, he was awarded the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL's rookie of the year, tallying 24 goals and 33 assists (57 points) in 47 games. He was also named to the AHL's All-Rookie Team and First All-Star Team. Before being traded to Carolina, Stankoven played 59 regular season games with the Dallas Stars, recording 9 goals and 20 assists.

He made his NHL debut with Dallas on February 24, 2024, in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes. In 102 career NHL games with Carolina and Dallas, Stankoven has totaled 20 goals and 32 assists (52 points), along with 16 points (8 goals, 8 assists) in 34 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
